She is stripes with polka dots and dresses with Chuck Taylors. She is little bits of scrap paper made into raffle tickets and pipe cleaners and toilet paper holders made into Leprechaun traps.
She refuses to participate in Brit-Speak Fridays, but isn't much bothered by the rest of us who do. She is her little brother's best friend. And the boss of him
. She is permission slips must be turned in on time and forms must be filled out in full. And in triplicate.
She hoards Chuck E. Cheese tickets instead of cashing them in. She is cartwheels anywhere
and wearing her brother's shoes. She is spaghetti tacos
and ribbons made into shoelaces.
She can make sparkly lip gloss with an old Carmex container, some petroleum jelly, glitter and powdered fruit punch Crystal Light drink mix. She remembers the things I forget and probably when your birthday is. And she knows which exit to take off the 15 to get to Nickel City.
She is bossy
. And impudent. Marked by cocky boldness. She is immodest and saucy. She is pretty sure that everyone likes her best of all. And she is pretty much right about that most of the time.
She is named for queens and activist first ladies. And stolen cars. And she is nine today.
Happy birthday Eleanor. You've always been one step ahead of the rest of us. Especially me.

Finally, a tribute fit for Queen Eleanor. We miss our little miss.
What a tough little sweetheart. Happy Birthday.
Eleanor was my number one girl's name when pregnant. I kept telling Mr. G. that if you were named Eleanor you were sure to be strong cool. I forget the reason he vetoed it, but I can assure it was stupid.
She is gorgeous.
She is all that I hope for for my little girl.
Happy Birthday Eleanor...
I love a dose of impudence with my Chuck Taylors, too. Here's to you Eleanor.
Happy birthday to Eleanor! Beautiful name for a beautiful girl! And spaghetti tacos? Hmm. Might try that one.
Wonderful!
And I have to ask: Does she love her name? Because my Eleanor refuses to be called anything but Ellie or El (her spelling, not mine) and won't answer to her official name.
Happy Birthday to both of you!
Happy Birthday, Eleanor!
I think I would like me some Eleanor in my backyard. Or kitchen.
You could move here, anytime.
Happiest birthday to your sweet bossy, saucy girl!
You're lucky. Happy Birthday, Eleanor!
Another awesome tribute! Happy birthday, Ms. E!
Jeez, two birthdays right on top of each other. Lucky for you they appear to be awesome children worthy of celebration. Because wouldn't it just suck if you had, like, two really crappy kids with birthdays and you'd be like, shit, I just finished celebrating this bogus holiday and now another one. See how lucky you are?
I am in love with her. Many happy returns. What's the bride price for that girl? I have 3 bachelors--all with promising futures--let's make a deal.
My kind of girl!
Happy Birthday!
What a great description of your daughter!
My 2nd daughter shares a bday with yours...except my little girl turned 7.
She also shares a birthday with my son, which makes her TOTALLY AWESOME.
Happy Birthday, Eleanor.
Happy birthday to you non-brit speaking, Chuck Taylor wearing bundle of cuteness.
Happy Birthday Eleanor. I won't tell you that I so wanted to name my bulldog puppy Eleanor. I didn't, although she totally looks like one. Anyway, hope you have a great day!
My daughter has a birthday a week before her brother. It was never pretty. Two parties, girls only for her, boys only for him. It is still that way, 20 years later!
Happy Birthday Eleanor. Spunky is always good. You will be your own woman and the decent guys will admire that.

Sounds Like My Kind of Lady. Happy Birthday You Saucy Chick!
I think your Eleanor and my little Peppermint Patty would be BFF's if they ever met.
Happy Birthday Eleanor!
Happy birthday E..
Miss you , your mom and brothers.

How're the purple earrings? I love you Belle.
That fantastic daughter came from a fantastic mama.
Happy Birthday to the best little stepdaughter in the world!
"Marked by cocky boldness. She is immodest and saucy."
I totally want someone to say that about me.
But I'm just not that interesting.
Great tribute to Eleanor. I hope she had a happy, happy birthday.
Happy birthday Eleanor. Beautiful name for a beautiful spunky girl.
Happy (belated) Birthday Miss Eleanor.
Love the last line - one step ahead.
She is beautiful. I love daughters. (I don't have sons, but I'm sure I'd love them too). I have a neice named Eleanor. There is definitely something very strong about the girls who have this name.
